Community Activities:
Allentuck Landscaping Company Story This has been a busy year for Allentuck Landscaping Company’s volunteer program! In keeping with our 21 year history of contributing to the community, Allentuck Landscaping focused on four main activities. Last October, the company sponsored its second food drive for Manna Food Center. By partnering with commercial and residential customers, the company donated approximately 1000 pounds of food! Employees picked up donations from customers as well as donating plenty of canned and boxed foods of their own! It was great to see such wonderful cooperation between everyone and to realize that we live in a truly giving community. March found us doing a Spring Cleanup for a group home run by Jubilee Association of MD. This is an annual spring project. Employees are rewarded by seeing the smiles on the residents’ faces as we work to beautify their surroundings. Allentuck Landscaping employees celebrated Earth Day on April 22 at the Fisher House at the National Naval Medical Center doing a complete landscape overhaul for the two buildings. Heavy rain, hail and wild temperature swings didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! Everyone wanted to pitch in to beautify these grounds! Fisher House provides a free home away from home for the families of injured service people being treated at the Medical Center. The existing landscape was gutted and over 60 shrubs, 415 perennials and ground covers as well as 10 tons of stone were installed. At the end of the day, the grounds had morphed into a beautiful, peaceful landscape for the service people and their families to enjoy. Allentuck employees all had great feelings about doing something worthwhile for the environment and for those who serve our country so well. Nine Allentuck Landscaping employees participated in Arlington National Cemetery’s Day of Remembrance. This is the fourth year that the company has participated in this event sponsored by Planet (National Landscaping Association) which brings together over 400 colleagues from across the US to honor our fallen American heroes and to make their final resting place beautiful. In all, over $300,000 worth of materials and labor were donated on this one special day. Although the work was intense, the cause was extremely worthwhile and rewarding for all who participated. Allentuck Landscaping is proud to be able to help our community in so many ways and looks forward to continuing to have a positive effect on those around us.
