HEY! Let's DO Something

At a time when County budgets are being slashed and services are being cut back we at the Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County (CVC-MC) are looking to make a significant difference. The MC Volunteer Center (with whom we enjoy a loyal and mutually beneficial partnership) has had it resources gutted. Now is the time to step up and HELP OUT!

STAND UP, PARTNER, VOLUNTEER AND PROSPER

We need current members, prospective members and non-members to help us create long lasting partnerships with our local non-profits.

We have worked with the non-profits and identified specific volunteer opportunities that need to be filled and have committed to do everything we can to engage the business community to help.

Every business I speak with already does so much, but on an ad-hoc basis, this initiative will formalize the employee volunteer activities and bring all the benefits that come with doing the right thing.

To help in this initiative, we (the CVC) has formed partnerships with just a few local non-profits to facilitate the introductions and engagement of local businesses and corporations with these non-profits in an effort to provide volunteers (from the business sector) to these local non-profits.

Listed below are our initial program non-profit partners, PLEASE CALL US 301.942.0921 to get introduced today.

We are honored to have Seth Goldman as our keynote speaker this year.  Mr. Goldman is President and TeaEO of Honest Tea, the company he co-founded in 1998. Over the past ten years the company has thrived with a 66% annual compound growth rate, as consumers have shifted toward healthier and more sustainable diets. In 2008 The Coca-Cola Company purchased a minority interest in Honest Tea, fueling further growth as Honest becomes the first organic and Fair Trade brand to move into the world's largest beverage distribution system.

An entrepreneur at heart, Seth started with lemonade stands and newspaper routes, created a non-profit urban service corps, and nearly pursued a prize-winning biotechnology idea before he started Honest Tea in his kitchen in 1998. Since then, the company has initiated community-based partnerships with suppliers in India, South Africa and Argentina and has created marketing partnerships with City Year, Terracycle, the GM Saturn VUE Greenline Hybrid and Jamis Bikes. In addition to being named one of The Better World Shopping Guide's "ten best companies on the planet based on their overall social and environmental record," Honest Tea recently received Greenopia.com's coveted 4-Leaf Rating as "the greenest beverage company."
